Kid, Feral
Kid, Feral from Skövde, Sweden, has been a breath of fresh air in the screamo scene since
their debut LP “Live and Let’s Die!” in 2018. Their sophomore LP “2019” is out on the 27th
of March 2026 via the Oslo-based label Backpack Records. Released on all streaming
platforms, limited edition cassettes and eco-friendly recycled vinyl, which are available for
pre-order on the Backpack Records Webstore and on Bandcamp.
The album is an 8-track album epic that, due to hardships, failed relationships, grave bodily
injury and personal ruination, took 7 years to finish, and it’s now finally ready to be released
into the world!
"2019" is an album written in our youth and released at the dawn of our middle age. Writing
actually began even back in 2018, and the drums on the record are from October 2019. The
rest has been laboured over tirelessly since then, with a huge number of guitar tracks, bass
tracks that have been written and re-written several times. We were very keen to make a
record that felt intuitive to us, but that didn't sound like any other band. We really want to
push the genre into something new and inspire people to do something different.
All of the album was recorded by us in our shitty rehearsal space, and it is 100% mixed and
mastered by us. The album is poorly recorded, which gives it a lo-fi kind of vibe. But then
there's 8 years of thought, planning, extremely detailed mixing and re-do stuff, which gives it
depth and character in all its shittiness and makes it a fun mess to listen to. Also, the master
was kind of consciously made to feel a bit warm, which allows you be able to turn up the
volume more than those super harsh and treble-focused screamo records. Glorious!
